Gina Waota, CPA Managing Partner
Gina Waota started her career as an associate at one of the Big 4 Accounting Firm KPMG specializing in Audit and Financial Management. She went on to be project accountant for a midsize telecommunication firm preparing and reviewing large telecommunication bids for the firm. In 2003, Gina decided to make the jump to pursuit a lifelong dream of being an entrepreneur. She co-founded and led Cape Villa Assisted Living Facilities. Today as a part owner she remained a key advisor to the management team. In 2005 along with her loving and supportive husband and partner, Gina started WMB Financial solutions Inc. a professional service firm that specializes in accounting and tax services. The firm eventually acquired the Burton Olsen Company and is known as Olsen & Partners, CPA. In November 2008, WMB financial Solutions, merged with WEL Enterprise Inc. and is now Olsen & Partners, CPA. As a Managing Partner Gina oversees all CPA services (Tax, Accounting, Audit). Gina has a Bachelor of Science from Denver University and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
On a personal side, Gina is a mother of two teenage girls. She enjoys spending time with her family and volunteer at the kids' school. Her hobbies include, Bikram yoga, reading, and running, some of her favorite authors are Louise Hay, Sandy Bodkin, Diane Kennedy, Deepak Chopra. Gina's role model beside her beloved Mother is Oprah Winfrey which she religiously watches every week-end (thanks to DVDR!!)
Tim Novacic, CPA Partner
Tim began his accounting career with Deloitte & Touche, one of the national Big 4 firms, before starting his own tax and accounting practice. He later joined a client's software company, serving as its CFO and general manager. Tim was also the audit director for a regional CPA firm, and worked in a mergers and acquisitions firm where he brokered the sales of small companies and conducted business valuations. Tim is a lifelong Northern California resident and has been in San Francisco since... well let's say forever! He also enjoys golf and tennis in his spare time. Tim enjoys watching the Giants-when they're winning
Yelena Khachatryan, Tax Accountant
Yelena is our veteran team member, going onto her 4th tax season, she still gets excited about taxes. She believes in educating her clients and enjoys working with sole proprietors on helping them achieve their financial goals.
Yelena was born on the coast of Black Sea and loves being around water. Canoeing on the Russian River has become a summer tradition. Whenever opportunity presents itself, she like to go to Warrior games with her fiancé, practice her skills at the shooting range and get into Standing Head to Knee Pose in a Hot Yoga class. Her favorite activity remains lounging on the beach reading a Nicholas Sparks novel.
Yelena holds a degree from University of California Santa Cruz in Business Management Economics/Legal Studies, a Certificate of Advances Accounting Proficiency from Santa Clara University, CTEC license and Series 6 and 63 licenses. She is currently working towards her CPA license.
Carolyn Tompkins, CPA Partner
Carolyn Tompkins brings 25+ years of experience as a CPA to our firm. She considers herself a Californian now, having lived and worked in the Bay Area since 1973. Born and raised in Michigan, Carolyn attended the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA for three years, then transferred and graduated with a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. After moving to California, Carolyn obtained an MBA in Accounting from U.C. Berkeley, followed by an MBA in tax from Golden Gate University. She is an alum of what is now Deloitte, one of the Big Four accounting firms. She was most recently a partner in a small, local San Francisco CPA firm for over 10 years. Carolyn is an avid reader and particularly enjoys crime mysteries and forensic dramas. Favorite authors include Michael Connelly, Patricia Cornwell, and Jonathan Kellerman (I read to escape!). Two current favorite books are The Help and People of the Book. Carolyn also loves puttering around in her back yard which she and her husband have transformed from a blank slate into "our little garden of paradise." Her proudest accomplishments are her two beautiful daughters who live and work in NYC and San Francisco.
Franck Waota, Managing Partner
Franck Waota is an Entrepreneur with more than 12 years of experience in finance, technology, sales and marketing. Franck Waota started his professional career as a Financial Advisor for American Express Financial Advisors Inc. where he developed a good understanding of financial markets. In 1999, Franck Waota joined Gartner Inc. an Information Technology market research and consulting firm where he was Director of Business Development. Today, with his wife and partner Gina, he owns Olsen & Partners, CPA a firm with two locations in Sacramento and San Francisco and WMB General Contractors Inc. a commercial construction firm providing services to the Federal Government.
Franck holds a Masters in Political Science from Arkansas State University and an MBA from Golden Gate University. He is a Registered Investment Representative (Series 7 and 66).
Aside from his professional life and his interest for business in general, Franck enjoys spending time with his wife Gina and enjoy embarrassing his two teenage daughters Mia and Jah’elle by singing Justin Bieber. Franck is a former Track and Field Olympic finalist who likes to keep in shape by playing Tennis and Basket Ball. He likes to read mainly biographies and listen to music.
Will B. Jones, CRTP / Taxes-Financial Services-Insurance
Will has been working in the financial services industry since 2002, providing financial planning, investments, and tax services. He was born in Northern California, and after living in various locations along the West Coast settled back in his hometown area of Sacramento, CA with his wife Tresa, their two children Amelia and Miranda, and a menagerie of animals. He enjoys hiking, rock climbing, mountain biking, coaching volleyball, cooking and enjoying great quality, craft beers.
Will has a Finance degree from San Diego State University, and is a CTEC Registered Tax Preparer. He is currently in a master's program to obtain his Masters in Taxation (MBT), plans to become an Enrolled Agent in 2013.
Angelica Vivas, Accountant
Angelica started her career as a Project Manager for a consulting firm in Colombia while finishing her business degree from the Pontifical Xaverian University in Bogotá. She moved to San Francisco in 2010 after graduation and started an internship with us; before we knew it, Angelica became an essential part of the Olsen & Partners team. There really isn’t much that Angelica hasn’t done for Olsen & Partners; from being an intern to a bookkeeper to an office manager, to in-house IT, you name it she did it! Currently, she is one of Olsen’s full time accountant and is completing her requirements to become a Tax Advisor. Angelica enjoys working with businesses and sole proprietors integrating her bookkeeping expertise with her tax knowledge for the benefit of her clients.
If you haven’t noticed yet, Angelica loves learning and seizes any opportunity to increase her knowledge. She is in the process of starting her Master of Science in Accountancy. When she is not working, Angelica loves preparing her refreshing Strawberry icebox pie, reading Paulo Coelho’s books and spending time with her loved ones.
Natalia Saavedra, Executive Assistant
Natalia is one of the newest additions to the Olsen & Partners team! Before joining us as an Executive Assistant, she supported the President and team at one of the most reputable boutique recruiting firms based in the San Francisco Financial District. She has over 10 years experience running the front and back end of a prestigious firm and prides herself in excellent client service. Given that she has worked hard since high school, she is committed and dedicated to her career. Born and raised in Northern California, Natalia loves San Francisco and considers it one of the most amazing geographic places to live. As she loves to travel, hike, camp, snowboard, river raft, attend music festivals and just enjoys about anything else outdoors. Among other things, she has an enormous passion of event planning and puts on an impressive annual Halloween party! She is currently training for her first half marathon and is very excited as she gets to exercise with her puppy Jack Russell Scrappy!
Marlene Mejia-Suriano, Office Manager
Marlene has worked in the Financial Industry since 2004 for two major financial institutions, taking on roles as a business banker, and manager. She prides herself on her professional demeanor, appearance and extraordinary customer service. In a business environment, these qualities are of the utmost importance to Marlene. She believes she serves as a model to encourage other staff members to demonstrate the same high standards of professionalism.
On a personal level, she loves to spend time with her family, she has a 13 year old daughter and they enjoy reading twilight and the Percy Jackson series together. She also loves a good challenge on the dance floor, dancing to salsa music. Whenever possible, she enjoys spending her days at At&t park with her husband of 5 years, where they are big Giants fans.
